   :: Hartley College won the 8th annual cricket match in Toronto 
 
July 11, 2001

The Hartley College Old boys' team defeated the Jaffna Hindu College Old boys' team by 25 runs in the 8th annual cricket match, which was played on Monday, July 02, 2001 at the Sunnybrook Park in Toronto, Canada

The Hartley College Old boys' team batted first. V. Mohan top scored by making 25 runs. Mano (21 runs), Vasanthanathan (21 runs), Sithamparanathan (10 runs) and Raje Rajaratnam (an unbeaten 10 runs) held the Hartley's batting together before the team was all out for 118 runs in the 39th over.

When it was Hartley's turn to field, Raje took 4/30 with Jeyaraman, and Mano claiming two wickets each by giving out 13 and 10 runs consecutively. Jaffna Hindu was restricted to 93 runs all-out in 25 overs and hence Hartley won by 25 runs.

Following honours were awarded:

    Best Batsman : Mr. V. Mohan of Hartley
     Best Bowler : Mr. V. Jeyaraman of Hartley
     All Rounder : Mr. R. Ilanthirayan of Jaffna Hindu
    Best Fielder : Mr. S. Basil of Jaffna Hindu
Man of the Match : Mr. T. Raje of Hartley

Of the eight (annual) cricket matches played in Toronto (Canada) between the two schools, the Harley College old boys' team won 6 matches and conceded two to Jaffna Hindu old boys' team.
